Author Amish Tripathi steps into the realm of historical fiction with his seventh book Suheldev & The Battle of Bahraich. The book was launched by none other than Varun Dhawan in Mumbai on 11 June.
The first in a new series called ‘Indic Chronicles’, Suheldev & The Battle of Bahraich will tell the story of the battle fought by Raja Suheldev of Shravasti in 1025 AD that drove away the Turks for 170 years.
The actor revealed the cover of the book as he lauded Tripathi’s fearless efforts to re-present history and giving voice to lesser remembered people. Varun said he is a fan of Amish Tripathi’s Shiva trilogy, and wanted to play the role.
Tripathi went on to explain that his purpose behind the ‘Indic Chronicles’ is to write about barely known historical characters. Suheldev for instance, is a ruler of a small principality from a backward class, who united a divided country to fight off foreign invaders.
Varun says he is hoping for a well-made cinematic adaptation of Amish’s book soon.
Varun, who says he loves reading Supandi along with a lot of biographies, also quizzed Amish on how Suheldev would be described on Facebook.
Suheldev & The Battle of Bahraich is published by Westland Books and will release on 23 July.
