The Uttar Pradesh government ordered a CBI probe into IAS officer Anurag Tiwari’s death after the UP police filed an FIR in the murder case.
Tiwari’s family members had met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and demanded a CBI probe.
Tiwari’s family alleged that he was killed by corrupt officers. His brother, Mayank Tiwari, told The Quint:
Tiwari, 36, was found dead on 17 May, his birthday, under mysterious circumstances near a guest house where he was staying, in the high-security Hazratganj area in Uttar Pradesh. He was posted as commissioner in the department of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs in Bengaluru.
The Quint has accessed some WhatsApp messages that Anurag sent to his brothers and friends. In a message to his elder brother, Alok, on 25 March, Anurag appears to hint at some sort of trouble in Bengaluru.
