Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has often threatened to walk out of the BJP's alliance in UP. As part of 2019 Lok Sabha Elections reportage, The Quint met with the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party supremo to understand his strained relationship with the NDA.

OP Rajbhar said that his party will contest independently if BJP doesn't agree with their demand of 5 seats – and that if they make an alliance with other parties, then it is going to be on their own terms. When asked when his party would make the announcement, OP Rajbhar said, “Wait till 6 April.”

Rajbhar also said that he is in opposition to the BJP government's policies and citing Bihar and Gujarat as examples, questioned why liquor couldn't be banned in Uttar Pradesh.
