21 Parliamentary Secretaries who were appointed by the Aam Aadmi Party government now face the prospect of disqualification. This disqualification came as the MLAs held two offices of profit at once.
Petitions seeking disqualifications have been filed after President Pranab Mukherjee refused to give assent to the legislation that protects 21 MLAs who belong to AAP. However, Delhi CM and AAP leader, Arvind Kejriwal, denies the allegations and says that this a conspiracy by PM Modi.
Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Sambit Patra said that this was a classic case of AAP crash-landing the ‘Udta’ ambition of AAP. Congress on the other hand says that this bill is illegal and the President did the right thing by turning it down. Congress also added that all the 21 AAP MLAs in question should be barred from their posts and re-election be held.
