Loveratri has been in the news after a city-based outfit sought a ban on the release of the film, some groups have accused the trailer of showing vulgarity and offending the festival of Navratri. This is part of the continuing trend of religious groups threatening to obstruct the release of films. But the actors of the film have a simple response. “People who have any concern about the film offending any festival should just wait to watch the film,” says Aayush Sharma who stars in the lead role. The director of the film Abhiraj Minawala adds that the trailer was passed by the Censor Board and so clearly it was not perceived as offensive.

“We have tried to be as authentic possible, even the music is rooted in original Gujarati songs,” says Aayush Sharma. But the team is confident that the ‘family-film’ will bust all these notions once it releases. The film is launching the careers of Aayush Sharma( brother-in-law of Salman Khan), Warina Hussain and director Abhiraj Minawala.

When asked about their first day on set, Aayush says, “I had some background as an assistant on many sets so it wasn’t very alien. Also we started with a song so that made things easier. But I just hoped that I didn’t have many retakes on day one.” Warina, who is originally from Afghanistan and was based in Delhi earlier considers Mumbai to be her home now. “I had been modelling for for six years so there was a certain comfort in front of the camera. But this is a huge opportunity and I wanted to make the most of it,” she says. The Salman Khan produced film has generated tremendous buzz for its music, particularly the pulsating ‘Chogada’ which has become a rage.

Loveratri starring Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain releases on 5 October.
