The Goods and Services Tax was implemented with a lot of gusto at midnight on 30 June. But have the traders accepted the new taxation system?

The Quint went to Old Delhi’s busiest wholesale spice market Khari Baoli with tax expert Sharad Kohli to find out how the GST has impacted traders.

Although people believe that the GST will have an overall positive impact, many businessmen are still confused about what category will a specific item fall under.

Differing from the criticisms of the gala launch event, Kohli believes that the zeal with which the new tax regime was launched helped to inform people about the new system. He also believes that all the confusion will be cleared once people get used to the new method of taxation.
