Three innings in the 2017 Champions Trophy and Shikhar Dhawan has amassed a total of 271 runs, including two half-centuries and a ton at an average of 90.3.
Enroute his 78 off 83 on Sunday against South Africa, Dhawan went past Sachin Tendulkar and became the quickest to reach 1,000 runs in ICC organised 50-over matches (World Cup/ICC CT).
While Sachin achieved the feat in 18 innings, it took Dhawan 16 innings to surpass 1,000 runs.
Dhawan’s tally is now 1,046 at an average of 69.72, including five centuries and four fifties.
After bowling out world top-ranked ODI team South Africa for 191 runs in 44.2 overs at The Oval, India comfortably achieved the target with 8 wickets to spare.
