A seven year old gymnast from Fort Worth in Texas, USA, is stunning everyone with her incredible gymnastic skills. What’s amazing is not just her age - but the fact that Autumn Fought is a double amputee.
While she was still in her mother’s womb, Autumn suffered a stroke that paralysed her legs. As she turned three, doctors took the hard decision to amputate. The little girl, however, is remarkable in her determination to not let the amputation affect her daily life. She even developed a keen interest in gymnastics, and proved her mettle as an athlete.
Videos of the budding sports star show her doing back flips and headstands like a pro.
The little girl had three surgeries by the time she was six months old and was kept in NICU, before both her legs were amputated in 2010. Brandi recalls how tough it was for them. But the little girl overcame this, too.
Brandi claims her acrobatic daughter was doing handstands at age two and began gymnastic lessons shortly after her surgery in 2010. She is very proud of her daughter’s abilities, and says that she never imagined her to be this good.
The proud mother is happy that Autumn uses humour to answer questions about her amputated limbs, and that ‘no’ doesn’t exist in her vocabulary.
