Life isn’t fair. You step out of your comfort zone to change the world, you step out with dreams and ambitions and a hunger in your heart - what you come back with is disappointment and a sour taste of reality in your mouth. Laakhon Mein Ek Season 2 is a show that reminds you of just that.
Season 2 of the show created by acclaimed comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath follows the story of Shreya Pathare (played by Shweta Tripathi), a junior doctor who is sent off to a small village in Maharashtra to carry out a cataract camp. She is determined and driven, until she’s faced by the horrors of the system. The corrupt administration and the unhelpful seniors, the villagers who are unwilling to trust her. Shweta’s determination slowly cracks.
The show is brilliantly shot and manages to highlight some core issues. Shweta Tripathi’s performance is heart touching, you can almost feel her stress as she desperately tries to get things done before camp day. She is vulnerable but determined. The supporting actors add to the brilliant mix.
The show doesn’t sell you a dream. It simply shows you human courage. It reminds you to fight the good fight till you can - afterall, trying is all we can do, and try we must.
