Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is in Kerala to campaign for the BJP, appealed to the state’s voters to ‘see through’ the Congress and the Left parties’ arrangement to ‘rule by turns. Singh is addressing a series of election meetings in Kerala for two days beginning Friday.
Singh, a senior BJP leader, has arrived into the state with a plan to campaign for party candidates in Chathannoor and Kunnathur in Kollam district, Attingal, Nedumangad and Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvanthapuram.
Election to the 140-member Kerala Assembly will be held on May 16. BJP has fielded 97 candidates to contest the polls.
BJP on Friday set up a three-member committee to look into “growing atrocities” against Dalit women in Kerala and its members will be visiting the families of victims in the coming days.
A Dalit woman, who was a law student, was raped and murdered on April 28 in the state, leading to a sharp attack against the ruling UDF by BJP.
