In conversation with The Quint's founder Raghav Bahl at Quint Hindi and Google's BOL – Love Your Bhasha event, Google's vice president Rajan Anandan said:

“The maximum possibility of growth on the internet for Hindi and other languages that India speaks is through videos.”

Raghav Bahl also pointed out that the internet markets like China, Korea and Japan are monolith markets. That is why setting up an the internet in Chinese, Korean or Japanese in those countries would be much easier.

So will we build a Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Malayalam internet?

The Google’s vice president said that “the answer is yes”. According to Anandan, this challenge will be met via video. YouTube, in India, he pointed out, has 25 crore users. Other languages like Tamil and Telugu, are also thriving along with Hindi. By 2030, NCR will be a trillion-dollar economy. This in itself will present countless possibilities, said Anandan.

The Quint's Raghav Bahl then pointed out that in the time to come video content itself will facilitate online democracy.
