Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar announced on Monday that the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme for ex-servicemen will be implemented after Bihar elections but before Diwali.

On Sunday, protesting ex-servicemen signed a letter in blood to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding an early implementation of the ‘One Rank One Pension’ (OROP) scheme.
On the 133rd day of their relay hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, the veterans said that the announcement made by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on September 5 regarding the implementation of OROP had “serious shortcomings”.
