Moved by reports of a man carrying his wife’s body on his shoulder for burial in Odisha, the Bahrain PM Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa helped Dana Majhi with a cheque of Rs 8,87,000.

Majhi became headlines in all newspapers after he was photographed carrying his dead wife on his shoulders for 12 km as he could not afford an ambulance. He also became the mascot for deprivation in Odisha.

Weeks after the incident took place, help poured in for Majhi from various individuals and organisations. Majhi said that he wishes to educate his three girls and build himself a pucca house with the money.
