A 14-year-old Muslim boy, who was detained after taking a homemade clock to school in the US state of Texas, said he remains suspended from classes at MacArthur High School.

Police withdrew charges against Ahmed Mohamed, but his arrest and suspension ignited a wave of criticism of police and the school and raised suspicions that they had overreacted because of the boy’s religion.

Among those expressing their support on social media were US President Barack Obama – who invited him to bring the clock he had made to the White House; Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
