The world's heaviest woman, Eman Ahmed breathed her last in Abu Dhabi’s Burjeel Hospital on Monday.

An Egyptian national, Ahmed was flown to India for weight-loss treatment and underwent bariatric surgery to tackle her obesity.

While in Mumbai, Ahmed had allegedly shed over 300 kg of her near 500 kg weight, and underwent a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy surgery to shed over 75 percent of the size of her stomach.

Her treatment reached a standstill when doctor-patient relations allegedly soured after surgeon Dr Muffazal Lakdawala asked Ahmed to return home and continue her rehabilitation there.

After a series of public disagreements, Ahmed's family had shifted her to Burjeel hospital in Abu Dhabi in May. Since then, Ahmed had been undergoing treatment at Burjeel Hospital and was reportedly recovering.
