Pizza lovers in Fontana, California, have broken the Guinness Record for the world's longest pizza, by baking a 1.9 km long margherita.

Weighing a whopping 7,808 kilos, the pizza measures 6,333 feet 3.6 inches, smashing the previous record by 251 feet. Volunteers required a total 9,702 kg of dough, 6,803 kg of mozzarella cheese, and two tonnes of tomato salsa.

I feel exhausted, amazing, not even tired. I cannot explain because it is a huge accomplishment to be in the history books. Preparations for this event took us a year. Non-stop 36 hours of cooking between yesterday and today. It just feels good.
Giulio Adrianai, Co-organiser

Baking the massive margherita had its fair share of difficulties. The pizza kept getting stuck in the large industrial-scale ovens, resulting in constant replacement of dough. The dozens of volunteers finally achieved the feat after 36 hours of gruelling work. All the earnings and pizza from the event were sent to charitable organisations.
