India gets Rs 200 notes, for the first time ever.
In a press statement on 24 August, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that it will issue Rs 200 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (new) series from select RBI offices, and some banks on 25 August.
The notes bear the signature of RBI Governor Urjit Patel, and motif of Sanchi Stupa on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. The base colour of the note is bright yellow.
The note has other designs and geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse.
