An absconding dacoit, Balkrishna Chaubey in Chhatarpur, was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police, all thanks to this woman police officer who lured him into meeting her.

Police sub-inspector Madhavi Agnihotri, in-charge of the Garroli chowki in Chhatarpur block was able to lay the trap inspired by a daily TV programme, ‘Crime Patrol’.

Despite several attempts, police had been unable to catch the criminal wanted for several offences, including murder. According to the reports, Madhavi impersonated 'Radha Lodhi', who according to her research, had been in touch with the criminal before. She downloaded her pictures and soon started texting Chaubey, then convinced him to meet at a spot decided by the police.

The undercover cop laid a plan to meet Chaubey at a temple near the UP-MP border.

The armed policemen dressed in plain clothes and accompanied SI Madhavi towards the place.

While the story seems no less than a drama, the unique idea earned applause for the woman officer and her team.

SI Agnihotri encourages women to join the police force in order to feel safe and make the country safer for other women.

“It was my mother’s wish that I join the police force. There is a phobia in rural areas that the police force is not safe for women. I would want to say that it isn’t true. Being in the force, you can be safe and can make other women feel safe.”
