Advocate Darvesh Yadav became the first woman to head UP’s Bar Council. Her elevation was being celebrated within the court premises when the bloody incident occurred.
According to the eye-witness’ account, Manish Sharma started to have an argument with Yadav when she was sitting inside the chamber of her colleague and senior advocate Aravind Kumar Mishra. The argument started to intensify and Sharma fired 5 shots at her one after another.
Sharma wanted to kill Darvesh Yadav and her relative, Manoj. Manish first fired at Manoj, who was also sitting in the chamber, but he missed it. then Manish launched his attack on Darvesh Yadav and fired three shots killing her instantly. He then pointed the gun towards his head and shot himself.
Yadav’s colleagues feel that its because of her success that Manish Sharma, who was believed to have been her close friend, became insecure and eventually killed her.
UP bar council now seeks a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for Darvesh's family
