Union Minister of Environmental Affairs, Harsh Vardhan on Thursday said that the Indian government is committed towards following the Paris Climate Accord, irrespective of US President Donald Trump's stance on the agreement.
The US President had announced his decision to pull out of the multi-nation agreement, claiming that the deal could only result in the decimation of the American economy.
Trump launched an attack specifically on India and China, accusing the two nations of using the accord as a means of increasing their coal production. He went on to claim that India was receiving ‘billions and billions’ of foreign aid from developed countries for honouring the deal.
