Ahead of the first Budget Session after demonetisation Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that he hopes for complete cooperation from all political parties in the Parliament.

“Today a new tradition will begin, the Budget will be presented earlier and will incorporate the Rail Budget. There should be productivity and detailed discussions of the Budget (during the Session),” he said.

This is the first time the Budget will be presented on February 1 instead of the usual February 28. This is also the first occasion when the Rail Budget has been merged with the Union Budget.
