'Elections are never won on economic performance.'
This is what senior BJP leader and MP Subramanian Swamy told The Quint's editorial Director Sanjay Pugalia. He said that elections across the world are won on ‘emotions’ instead.

Swamy said that in the last 70 years, the politics of dividing Hindus had become the norm, but that the BJP had turned that formula on its head.
Upon being asked if the Opposition would be able to turn the tables in the 2019 general election, Swamy replied:
Swamy does not consider the BJP’s bypoll defeat a serious one. Instead, he expressed confidence that this time, in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP will touch 300 seats.
