‘Bihar me bahaar hai, Nitish-e Kumar hai (There is progress in Bihar, till there is Nitish Kumar)’, goes the slogan. The new chant should be: ‘Bihar me bahaar hai, AK-47 ki bharmaar hai (There is progress in Bihar and the free use of AK -47)’

Two hundred km from Bihar’s capital Patna, in Munger, 12 AK-47 rifles have been seized from several places including farms and wells.

Goons armed with AK-47 are roaming around freely. It becomes even more easier when the Deputy CM himself stands with hands folded saying, “Dear goons, please forgive us.”

Here’s what Deputy CM Sushil Modi said.

I would request the criminals to at least spare us till Pitra-Paksh (homage to forefathers) is over.
Sushil Kumar, Deputy CM

Deputy CM Goes Silent

Modi, who once called the law and order situation in Bihar a Jungle Raj, is today, instead of punishing the goons, bowing in front of them. It may well have reached a point where if a goon armed with an AK-47 came in front of him he would fall on his feet.

Sushil Modi ji, you cannot bow down to the goons. They are not fifth graders who would fear the headmaster and stop misbehaving.

It is your government, your police. And if you would fall in front of the goons like this, would the crime stop? Let’s assume that your plea makes the goons have a change of heart and they do not commit a crime for 15 days. But what after that?

Or you just want the crime to stop for 15 days because after that they would anyway get the licence. Licence for hooliganism.

Rest of the days you keep creating ruckus and police is constantly in action. I would request you to not do anything that would affect the pride of Bihar and not give a reason to the people coming in Bihar to complain, for at least these 15-16 days.

Not-So-Twitter-Savvy Anymore?

You were constantly tweeting against murders, robberies and failures of the administration when you were out of power. However, today your Twitter feed looks blank and the goons are roaming around the streets freely.

We understand, criticising your own government is not easy. But you need to quit begging for mercy from the criminals. Crime can be eradicated through better law and order, not through your pleas.

If you are still not convinced, take a look at the numbers.

JANUARY 2018 TO AUGUST 2018

1.5 lakh criminal cases registered

2,035 MURDERS

7,083 KIDNAPPINGS

If we talk about the Lalu-Nitish alliance,

JANUARY 2017 TO AUGUST 2017

1,838 MURDERS

6,098 KIDNAPPINGS

The math is not that difficult. If you face difficulty with memory and maths, then just focus on the September numbers.

  • 29 SEPTEMBER: Son of a doctor in Patna got abducted. A ransom of Rs 50 lakh was asked and later his body was found.
  • 23 SEPTEMBER: Muzaffarpur’s former mayor Sameer Kumar and his driver killed by AK-47 in the middle of the city.
  • 22 SEPTEMBER: BJP worker Sunil Shah shot dead  in Samastipur.
  • In the same month a former candidate for ward councillor was killed in Hajipur.
  • 10 SEPTEMBER : Near Patna’s Banka Ghat railway station armed robbers looted the Kosi express train.
  • Not only that, Sushil Kumar Modi ji, your ‘good governance’ disintegrated when a woman was harassed by a mob in Arrah.

These figures show that there is no fear of law and police in the mind of a criminal. In the case of murder, there has been an increase of 8 percent in August as compared to the previous year.

There have been increasing cases of mob lynchings, crimes against women, murders, kidnappings and communal violence. At a time when Bihar is reeling under crime, the deputy CM is pleading to the criminals. Sir, straighten your spine and prepare yourself, fight crime and don’t fold your hands in front of the criminals.
