Dear BMC, tell the people that Mumbai cannot be repaired. Say “We’re sorry, every year this can happen.” Or, do the damn job. This is a major city, this is Mumbai! You have to fix what’s going on.

Mumbai is flooded, yet again. Waterlogged roads, public transport disrupted and mayhem in the city. Could the city’s municipal authority, the richest in India, have handled the situation any better? Were they prepared and well-equipped to deal with the problems that commuters, and Mumbaikars in general, are facing today?

Red FM’s RJ Malishka, who has been targeted by the BMC in the past for criticising them, thinks the civic body has been caught napping once more.

We can’t be paralysed every time there is above-average rainfall. You can’t blame the rains, but can the pumping stations be better? Can the potholes get filled? Can the material used be better? This is a quest that should constantly be on. That is all Mumbaikars really need. A road to get to work and to get home. That is the thing the authorities are not addressing, at least we don’t feel they are.
