Kochi just got a fully air conditioned swanky dormitory for those looking for a cheap accommodation for a few hours.

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) opened India’s first exquisite air-conditioned dormitory at MG Road Metro station on 12 July. The dormitory boasts of 200 beds and 40 washrooms and resembles train coaches. Each bed is equipped with a private reading light and charging point. The property will be managed and operated by Peters Inn.

This is part of the steps taken by KMRL to increase non-ticketing revenue. It also provides the citizens with the utilisation of space in a manner that propels them to a more convenient living. Hence, taking into account the increasing need for providing accommodation for solo travellers, we have decided to introduce this option,

Meanwhile, KMRL also plans to introduce closed room facility for women. It will have locker facility to keep their valuable items for every bed space. Customers have the option of checking in at 7 pm and check out at 8 am. They can also avail the facility for a day stay, reports The New Indian Express

“We assure Peter’s Inn dormitory at M G Road Metro Station will be maintained professionally. We will also be taking group bookings. This is also an ideal interim alternative for people who are on long drives,” said Francis Mukkanikal, managing director of Peter’s Inn to The New Indian Express
