Pro-Kannada activists of Karave Yuva Sene, an off-shoot of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, protested against actor Sunny Leone’s upcoming performance on New Year’s Eve in Bengaluru, claiming the actor does not represent Kannada culture.
The activists held demonstrations outside Manyata Tech Park while sloganeering, wearing black ribbons and burning posters that feature the actor. A demonstrator said that Sunny Leone was failing at the depiction of Kannada culture.
Another demonstrator belonging to the Karnataka Vedika Yuve Sene said that the censor board should stall the release of Sunny Leone’s movies in Karnataka.
Other than protests in Bengaluru, the outfit said that they will organise protests in a total of 15 districts against the ‘Sunny Night in Bengaluru NYE 2018’ event.
This is not the first time that the pro-Kannada organisation has held protests against this event. The first protest took place on 7 December.
The event, organised by an advertising agency, is set to be held in White Orchid Hotel, on Outer Ring Road, opposite Manyata Tech Park.
