Najeeb Jung’s surprise resignation from the post of Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Delhi has generated varied reactions from across the political spectrum.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has had a strained relationship with Jung over the administrative control of Delhi, wished him luck.

Lt Jung said he is leaving due to personal reasons. I wish him all the success in his future endeavours. These bitter-sweet moments will keep happening in life.

Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia called the experience of working with Jung "bitter-sweet". He also acknowledged the L-G's support in governing Delhi.

He said he is tired and wishes to work in the education sector. I wished him luck and asked the reason behind his resignation. He said he was over and done with his post.

BJP’s Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State, Home Affairs, slammed the AAP and Congress for unnecessarily questioning Jung's resignation.

People from Congress and AAP demanded Jung’s resignation when he was working. Now they question his resignation. AAP and Congress question every action. I don’t know what they want.

On the other hand, senior Congress leader Ajay Maken suspected AAP and PM Modi's involvement in Jung's resignation.

I want to know if something between Kejriwal and PM Modi has led to this.

Jung's resignation has sparked intense speculation about his successor and the political allegiance of the incoming L-G. Among the names doing the rounds for the post are former Home Secretary in Vajpayee's government Anil Baijal, former Delhi police commissioner Ajai Raj Sharma, Kiran Bedi and BS Bassi.
