Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US Presidential Advisor Ivanka Trump inaugurated the much anticipated Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad on Tuesday, 29 November.

The global business event themed ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’ saw 1,500 entrepreneurs from across the globe. While addressing the gathering, Ivanka Trump lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for proving that transformational change is possible.

From your childhood, selling tea to becoming the Indian PM, you have proven that transformational change is possible. Through your enterprise, entrepreneurship and hard work the people of India have lifted 130 million Indians out of poverty. I believe, this would continue to grow under the leadership of Modi.

The PM emphasised on the significance of women in a developing country. He appreciated the contribution of Indian women in various fields from sports to astronomy.

“The theme ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’ makes this edition of GES stand out. In Indian mythology, a woman is an incarnation of Shakti, the goddess of power. We believe women’s empowerment is vital for development. Our history has references to women of incredible talent and determination. Indian women continue to lead in different walks of life. More than 50 percent delegates are women here. They now inspire a new generation of women entrepreneurs ,” he said.

Mitra, a robot developed by Bengaluru-based inventor, greeted the two leaders with a ‘Namaste’ and then proceeded to have a conversation with them.
