Resort World Manila, a happening hotel and casino complex in Manila, Philippines witnessed a sudden firing by a gunman, who set the hotel on fire, killing 36. The attack happened shortly after midnight. The gunshots alarmed everyone, creating chaos and frenzy among people who ran for the exits. As the hotel’s top floor was set ablaze, emanating black smoke choked 36 people to death.
Stephen Reily, COO, Resort World Manila Entertainment Complex said that the identity of the suspect was not known. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack but the Philippine Police Chief Dela Rosa denied the terror angle. He called it a failed robbery attempt. The accused, he said, tried stealing gambling chips worth $2.3 million.
