kshay Kumar-starrer Bollywood flick ‘Padman’ played a key role in drawing attention to the issue of women’s health and hygiene. Inspired by the movie, two Chandigarh-based teenagers started a hygiene campaign, 'spot free', for girls living in slums across Chandigarh.
Jaanvi Singh (15) and Laavanya Jain (17), who are spearheading the campaign make and distribute sanitary napkins among underprivileged girls. The duo started the campaign to spread awareness on health issues and the use of sanitary napkins among underprivileged girls.
The duo started the campaign from Dhulandhar in Madhya Pradesh and then gradually made their way to Chandigarh. They plan to reach Dehradun next.
Janvi and Lavanya make packets of 10 sanitary napkins each and pack them in newspaper rolls to avoid using plastic bags. These are then distributed in slums in the city.
