Instead of traditional Buddhas, giant statues of comic book icons, the Transformers, are now "guarding" the entrance to the Wat Ta Kien Buddhist temple in Nonthabur, outside Bangkok, as seen in footage filmed on Saturday.
The temple monks say the statues have "no spiritual purpose," except to attract and entertain children who visit the temple with their parents.
The Transformers, which are made from old car engines and scrap metal "stand here for visitors to take photos, have fun, and later use these photos as a souvenir," said one of the monks.
