Fearing that donation boxes may fall prey to black money, a temple in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district has stopped accepting charity in the form of cash from devotees.
The move comes after the Charity Commissioner's office in Maharashtra asked temple authorities at several popular pilgrimage centres to open donation boxes only in the presence of authorised personnel. This was due to the apprehension that the cash could be used by black-money hoarders to get rid of their ill-gotten wealth.
Meanwhile a shortfall in cash supply forced a man to sit through an entire movie alone in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad.
