A mother's love knows no bounds and an example of this sentiment was seen recently in Haveri, Karnataka. Here, a cow anxiously ran behind a tempo that was carrying her injured calf to a veterinary hospital.
The two-month-old calf had injured itself and collapsed after its wounds became severe and infected. Both the cow and its offspring were strays and it is not known how the animal got injured.
As the hospital workers picked the unconscious calf and sped away in the vehicle, the tense mother followed it till it reached the dispensary. The mother kept her pace even when the vehicle changed its speed.
At one point, it outran the driver and came in front of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it, but then resumed following it when the driver did not stop.
The cow stood outside the hospital for two days, anxiously waiting for its calf it underwent treatment. A local animal welfare organisation later adopted both the bovines.
