In an address on the first day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session, Narendra Modi touched upon two things – the recently implemented GST and the ongoing Presidential election.
He said that another meaning of GST was "Growing Stronger Together" and hoped that Parliamentarians would help keep up the spirit of the new tax regime. In the same address, he said that the Session was significant because it would see the election of a new president and a vice-president for the country.

The prime minister said the passage of the GST showed the good that can be achieved when all political parties and all governments come together and work for the nation. Modi said whenever political parties and government take decisions keeping in mind national interest, it shows their commitment towards the larger public good.
