During Japanese PM Shinzo Abe’s visit to Ahmedabad, India and Japan took their relationship a step further through the signing of various MOUs. While most of these focused on defence and Make in India, PM Narendra Modi hailed the launch of bullet train as the most significant partnership, calling it the ‘lifeline of new India’.
Talking about the partnership, PM Modi claimed that Japan has now become the third-largest investor in India.
He also thanked Abe for his personal interest in making sure India could realise the bullet train dream. Attributing this partnership to taxation reforms, Skill India and Make in India, PM Modi also claimed that it is a tremendous opportunity for Japanese businesses to work for India’s flagship projects.
Calling Modi a ‘far-sighted leader’, Abe also expressed his love for Gujarat and his hopes for the successful completion of the Rs 88,000 crore bullet train project.
Modi also thanked Japan for the civil nuclear deal and its ratification.
