1. Speak on Your Govt’s Achievements for 15 Minutes: PM Modi to RaGa

Addressing a public rally in Karnataka’s Santhemaralli village, on Tuesday, 1 May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unleashed a blistering attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi and dared him "to speak in any language" for 15 minutes about the achievements of the Siddaramaiah government without reading out from a piece of paper.

He accused the state's Congress government, which he claimed was steeped in corruption, of thwarting the Centre's efforts for development.

Hitting out at the Congress president, Modi also said those currently leading the party had "no understanding" of history and the country's legacy.

2. Don’t Communalise My Niece’s Rape: Uncle of Minor Raped in Madrasa

A 10-year-old girl was found on the first floor of a madrasa in Ghaziabad, wrapped in a mat on the floor of the dimly-lit, shabby school run by the local mosque committee. Medical examination proved she was raped.

The girl is a Hindu, and in the backdrop of the recent rape and murder case of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua, there is a tendency to give the case a communal colour. But the rape survivor’s uncle pleads, “Don’t communalise my niece’s rape. Criminals don’t see religion.”

3. Couple Thrashed for Hugging Inside Metro in Kolkata

A couple was harassed and beaten up in Kolkata for hugging each other inside a metro compartment, reported Anandabazar Patrika quoting an eyewitness.

The eyewitness Ujjwal Chakraborty said that the couple was constantly being harassed and asked questions for hugging in the public. From “Why aren’t you going to a pub in Park Street?” to “Why don’t you get a room?” – a range of questions were hurled at the couple, Chakroborty wrote.
