1. AugustaWestland Middleman Christian Michel Sent to 5-Day CBI Custody

The CBI on Wednesday, 5 December, got five-day custody of alleged middleman Christian Michel in the AgustaWestland chopper deal case.

Michel had moved a bail plea, but the court kept it pending for the next hearing and remanded him to CBI custody.

The CBI had originally sought a 14-day custody at Delhi's Patiala House Court.

"We need his (Michel) police custody to confront him with some important documents," CBI counsel DP Singh said before the CBI Special Court.

Michel was extradited to India on Tuesday, 4 December.

2. FIR Against Bulandshahr Cow Slaughter Names 2 Minors

Seven people of the Muslim community in Nayabans village have been charged with cow slaughter, the alleged incident that triggered a mob to kill a police officer in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on Monday, 3 December.

The FIR, lodged on the day of the incident at the Chingrawathi police post, has also named two minor boys aged 11 and 12. The remaining five accused were not present at the village on the day violence erupted, Scroll reported, quoting several villagers of Nayabans.

The complainant is the District Chief of Hindu outfit Bajrang Dal, Yogesh Raj, who has been named as the prime accused in a separate FIR over the murder of police Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh during the riot on Monday.

3. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is a Failure in Rajasthan’s Bida

What’s worrying about Bida? That the girls of this village opt out of education way too early. None of the girls in this village have cleared Class 12 yet.
