Dalit leader and newly elected legislator from Vadgam, Jignesh Mevani recently attacked PM Modi, calling him "irrelevant" and "boring." In an interview given to ANI, Jignesh Mevani asked PM Modi to go to the Himalaya's and become a preacher, stating that that the PM must stop fooling people with his false promises.
On 19 December, in an interview, Jignesh Mevani had said the PM Modi should retire and go to the Himalayas.
On 20 December when a reported from Republic TV demanded an apology from Mevani, he refused to apologise maintaining that he was not ashamed of what he had said. He said that the PM had neither fulfilled his promise of providing employement to two crore people nor did the Modi Government help Rohith Vermula's mother or treat her well.
With a strong Dalit support base, Mevani had defeated the BJP rival by 19,696 votes.
