On 27 May, which marks the 54th Death Anniversary of India's first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, former President Pranab Mukherjee released a book about him. The book named "Jawaharlal Nehru- An Illustrated Biography" has been edited by A Gopanna.
The book was released at Speaker's Hall, Constitution Club in New Delhi, and the event was attended by former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and former Vice President Hamid Ansari.
The former President spoke highly about India's first prime minister, who is also widely called the "Architect of Modern India”.
A special address by Hamid Ansari tackled the recent criticism that Nehru's policies and legacy have been a target of.
Jawaharlal Nehru was also India's longest running Prime Minister, having served 17 years in office.
