Massive Fire in Narwal; Three Rohingya Refugees Burnt to Death

Over 150 ‘Jhuggis’ were reduced to ashes during a massive fire at Narwal in Jammu city.

Three Rohingya refugees died and six others got injured in a devastating fire that destroyed over 150 "Jhuggis" in Jammu, officials said.

Ramesh Gupta, superintendent of Medical College Hospital, Jammu, said that three charred bodies were brought to the mortuary of the hospital during the night while six persons suffering critical burn injuries were being treated.

The fire started in Narwal area of Jammu city around 12 am in the slum area where dozens of families of Rohingya Muslims – who were uprooted from Myanmar because of persecution – have taken shelter.

Besides these Rohingya Muslims, dozens of other slum dwellers were also living in the over 150 "Jhuggis" that were completed destroyed in the blaze.
