Jammu and Kashmir police force held a recruitment drive in Srinagar’s Bakshi stadium on Thursday. According to the police officials, as many as 1,18,000 applications were received for 5,300 vacancies.
About 50,000 applicants are from the Kashmir valley and 2,800 are from Srinagar itself, an official added. The entire selection is computerised & managed by an outside agency. The process is overseen by the J&K police board.
Many boys and girls turned up at the stadium for the recruitment drive, despite threats by terrorist outfits to not join the police force.
The test was in two stages: a physical endurance test and then a written test. Boys had to run and do push ups to qualify for the physical endurance test, while girls had to run and throw shot puts.
