Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel has announced that the Congress has agreed to give reservation to the Patidar community if voted to power in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls.

“Congress will bring in a bill if they come to power in Gujarat,” he said.

Responding to the announcement, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said:

The Congress-Hardik club is one of mutual deception. The law of the land is very clear. It has been laid down by the SC, and reaffirmed in Rajasthan. 50 percent cap cannot be breached. They are deceiving each other as well as the voters by saying that they will devise a method of breaching the cap.

On the other hand, Tariq Anwar, General Secretary of Nationalist Congress Party of India said that the party might support Congress.
