Meet Joe Manganiello, the actor who voices the tiny blue character named 'Hefty' in "Smurfs: The Lost Village" and singer/actor Demi Lovato who lends her voice to Smurfette. Manganiello's Hefty pines for Smurfette.

In the newest chapter of the animated classic, Smurfette and pals, Hefty, Brainy and Clumsy, set out on an adventure to find a Lost Village of mysterious creatures.

Manganiello said the movie's lessons about chivalry resonated with him.

I was raised very chivalrous. I was taught to hold the door open. I was taught you’re the one opening the bottles, you’re the one moving the refrigerators. If somebody breaks into the house, you’re the one standing at the top of the stairs guarding your family, guarding your loved ones. So for me having a little character that loves Smurfette and would do anything for her and is protecting her and there to help her in any way possible, to me that’s a good message for boys because I think men fall in love by protecting and taking care of the women that they love. So for me that’s an important message to impart on the younger generation of little boys out there

Lovato also sees herself as a romantic of sorts.

"I love being taken care of. So the receiving end of that chivalry," she said.

"Smurfs: The Lost Village" opens in U.S. theatres April 7.
