“We have access to the library but not the washrooms. How’s that logical,” asks Rahee Shruti Ganesh, a final year BA student at Fergusson college in Pune. Rahee is one of the many students protesting in front of main building of the college.
Their demand – access to the ladies washroom in the campus on holidays and late in the night.
Holding placards and shouting slogans at the circle in front of the main college building, the girls made sure their demands were heard.
Fergusson is one of the most reputed colleges in Pune. It recently got autonomous stature and was also declared as college of excellence by UGC on the basis of the quality of education and the facilities provided on the campus. Ironically, a basic facility in the college remains ignored.
