Laraib Zahid, a baby born in Multan, Pakistan with the heart outside her body, is the source of joy and worry for her parents.
Her father, a poor taxi-driver is happy at the birth of his daughter but worried about how he can secure the health, well-being and survival of the child suffering from ectopic cordis (heart outside the chest cavity).
He is too poor too travel abroad for the child’s treatment and the condition is not treatable in Pakistan.
The baby’s 22-year-old mother Shaista and father Zahid Baloch have sought help from the Pakistani government so that the baby can be taken outside the country for surgery.
