Ever since the FIFA World Cup 2018 commenced on 14 June, Football fever has gripped India and the rest of the world.

While India has never played in the World Cup, the event is followed with a lot of passion and enthusiasm in the country.

Mariappan R, a Coimbatore based miniature artist has blended his love for art and football by creating a miniature World Cup Trophy using 900 mg of gold.

Like Anna Solnechaya, a Russian artist who is creating stunning stone mosaics of the World Cup’s biggest stars like Mohamed Salah and Lionel Messi, Mariappan also hopes his art will unite football lovers across India.

Mariappan hopes to see India participate in the World Cup some day.
