Panic gripped the people of Udhampur as Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement on the morning of 27 February in the Manjakote sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani Army resorted to shelling, targeting local houses and schools. Several school-going children and locals were stranded for a long time after the firing became intense.
Fearing loss of lives, locals stayed inside their houses and their day-to-day work was disrupted. Located near the LoC, this bordering area often witnesses indiscriminate firing from Pakistan, at times leaving their houses partially damaged.
In an interview with ANI, Jammu & Kashmir former CM Farooq Abdullah urged both governments to look for peace process.
