A doctor from a private hospital in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh was thrashed by the patient’s family after the patient died during surgery. The family of the patient alleges medical negligence. The act was caught on CCTV cameras. “We can’t predict anything in this profession. She was administered spinal anaesthesia and there was no overdose of anaesthesia,” said Dr Sanjeev Yadav.
This comes after nearly 4,000 doctors in Maharashtra went on a strike last week, demanding CCTV cameras and security guards in the hospital after four incidents of attacks on doctors. The recent spate of attacks took place even as the Maharashtra government has been appealing to doctors to end their protest and has been assuring doctors that their safety will be ensured.
