In 2004, the United States of America was waging a war that was highly unpopular with its citizens. The ideological divide between the Republicans and Democrats was at its widest. It was at this time that Barack Obama grabbed eyeballs during a Democratic National Convention.
Obama brought this message of unity and change to his 2008 Presidential campaign.
And he did it. Barack Obama became the first African-American President of the United States of America. As the President, he made good on his promise of taking forces out of Iraq. For his efforts, he was conferred the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
