Arrest Those Who Assaulted Sooraj: Demand Students at Chennai Stir
Protesting students claimed that eating beef is an integral part of Tamil culture, just like Jalikattu.

Pro-Left student bodies staged a protest outside IIT Madras on Wednesday, condemning the attack on PhD scholar, R Sooraj, for taking part in a beef fest in the campus.
Sooraj, associated with the Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle, was injured in his right eye, and was admitted to a private hospital after Tuesday's assault. The ‘beef fest’ had been organised to protest the Centre's ban on sale of cattle for slaughter.
Sooraj had been allegedly assaulted by some students who claimed to be Sangh Parivar supporters. According to some, the same students have indulged in violence in the past.
